Deborah A. Hampton is an Intellectual Property Manager at Limited Brands Inc. Ms. Hampton works on a number of brands for the company including VICTORIA’S SECRET ®, VICTORIA’S SECRET PINK™, and VSX SPORT™. Over the course of 24 years, Ms. Hampton has worked primarily in the corporate arena for a number of trademark owners including Jordache Enterprises, AT&T, Lucent Technologies, and Wyeth.
Ms. Hampton’s specialty is managing trademark, patent, copyright and domain name portfolios. She has extensive experience on the policies and practices of the U.S. Trademark Office relating to prosecuting applications and post-registration maintenance. She also has a complete and thorough knowledge of international statutes and policies and practices required to successfully register and protect intellectual property globally. During her tenure at Limited Brands, she has thoroughly immersed herself in managing trade dress and anti-counterfeiting issues.
Ms. Hampton is very active with the International Trademark Association, She has served on a number of committees, and project teams since 1990. She is currently on the Audit Committee, the Emerging Issues Committee and previously has served on the Anti-Counterfeiting, Trademark Administrators, and Programs Committee. She Co-Chaired the 2004 INTA Trademark Administrators Conference and in 2006 completed a stint as the Project Team Leader, Trademark Administration, on the INTA 2006 Annual Meeting Committee. Ms. Hampton is passionate about promoting trademark education; she has served on several project teams for forums and workshops.
Ms. Hampton was selected to be one 15 paralegals featured in the recently published book by Carole Bruno, LESSONS from the Top Paralegal Experts: The 15 Most Successful Paralegals in America and what you can learn From Them.
Ms. Hampton is active in many paralegal organizations and she is President of the Foundation for the Advancement of the Paralegal Profession. She has written numerous articles and is speaks frequently at conferences and seminars.
Not content to protect intellectual property for clients, Ms. Hampton protects her own. She is a co-inventor on a 2007 patent issued concerning cellular telephone technology.
Ms. Hampton graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1981 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and received her Paralegal Certificate from Adelphi University’s Lawyers Assistant Program in 1983.
