October 10, 2008:
AMERICAN ALLIANCE OF PARALEGALS, INC. HOLDS ANNUAL MEETING AND ELECTIONS
At its Annual Meeting, The American Alliance of Paralegals, Inc. held its annual elections. The following officers were elected:
Angela Baker-Colyer, AACP (Cincinnati) - Director of Education
Sandra M. Herdler (Kansas City) - Secretary.
Both offices are three-year terms commencing January 1, 2009.
Board member, Karen Ray, from Memphis, will be leaving the position of Secretary after having served four years in that position. Ray commented that, “I have enjoyed serving the American Alliance members and don’t expect to be a stranger to the association. I will continue with a number of activities within the organization and help it grow even more.”
Debbie Repass, AACP, RP, president of the American Alliance, presented her State of the Association report and was pleased to note that the membership is increasing at a steady rate. She believes that more and more experienced paralegals are eager to be a part of a national paralegal organization that focuses on education and has a post high school educational requirement for all its voting members.
A further part of the report focused on the success of the recent National Paralegal Summit hosted by the American Alliance, and the manner in which the American Alliance has embraced technological advances by holding the Summit via webinar.
Repass stated that she is, “Proud that as the American Alliance matures, it continues to fulfill the needs of many experienced paralegals and continues to outreach to all paralegals and national paralegal associations, regardless of the difference in philosophies.”
